day 48

Haha im really excited to get all those letters from the primary. I miss them every time i think about our primary here. I wish so badly i could go and teach some of those kids.

ok so i got yours and becca's packages and they were awesome!! i loved the cookies and also the greenie package was so funny! haha we are still enjoying our 2 liters of fun things. when we roll play in the mornings we do it to our dinosaurs that you gave us. :) haha funny.

so on to my stories.

this week was great! on monday we did our normal thing and on tuesday we went and visited a lady. We contacted her on the street. she was just getting out of her car and on her way into a church for an AA meeting and we stopped her and talked to her about the book of mormon and jesus christ and how these things can and are helping her with her addictions. so tuesday we went and visited her and she had tons of dogs...like 3! hahaha who said something that sounds like that? :) so anyways she let us in and we talked about her and we got to know her a little better and so we started with the restoration that went great! she was interacting and was very attentive to the lesson. after the lesson we asked her to read the second to last paragraph in the introduction page. she did that and after that we bore our testimonies about how gaining a testimony about this book has help our lifes and that we knew that it will help her out with her addictions. she started crying and saying that she knew that this is the path that she needed to be on. My companion and i invited her to come to church and also we felt impressed to invite her to be baptised on oct. 1st and she accepted it!!

so we head for home all happy about how she is so ready to be baptised. so we go through out our week and wait for saturday to call her and follow up on her coming to church. so saturday comes along and we call her and she tells us some very sad news. she said that she didn't want to go to church cause her brother is like a methodest minister and her son also was a baptist minister. so she felt bad for that so we will have to talk to her about that as well as teaching her the plan of salvation.

we are planning on going to her house today and teaching her so im really excited for that.

well on wednesday of last week we went up to des moines for my companion's training meeting on how to train and i went with the missionaries that were in the west des moines area and went to some peoples houses. it was so frustrating to be so close to the hancocks and not be able to see them. hopefully i'll be able to see them soon.

on thursday we had district meeting and then after that we went on exchanges with the oskyloosa missionaries. we went up there and i went with elder L and my companion went with elder P. it was really cool to see that they were doing the same kind of work that we do over in knoxville. :) haha we meet a cool guy who plays for the william penn football team. right now he is planning on getting baptized but first he has to be able to say that he is living the law of chastity. he right now has his girlfriend living with him but they are staying clean intimatly, which is awesome. they just need to get married or have her find another place to stay.

so i think that will be it for my letter this week. if i need anything else i will send you a letter in the mail. i love and miss you guys so much. i look at that book you made for me every day. (I made a book of photos for him of his friends and family and Adi)

can't wait to hear from you again!!
love
Elder Jens Smith
