wow that's an awesome story about the Japanese missionary.
("A missionary from Japan recieved his call to serve in the Bogota Columbia mission. He felt that because Japanese was his native tongue that he would be much more effective if sent to Japan, so he went to his Bishopric and expressed his feelings. He asked the bishop to write the church missionary committee about his strong desire to serve in Japan, The second letter he received again said he was to go to Columbia.
The missionary then sent a personal letter to the missionary committee stating that he had never had any training in spanish and felt that he should go to Japan. A third letter came back to him letting him know he was still being called to the serve in the columbia mission.
He entered the mtc and tried hard to learn the spanish language but was unsuccessful. He left with other missionaries, after a month or so, who went to columbia. He served as jr. companion for 18 months because he struggled with the language.
One day as he and his companion were tracting an Asian man approached them and asked if they were the mormon missionaries. When he found out that they were he showed them a copy of the book of mormon in japanese. As the missionaries examined the book of mormon they found the testimony of the missionary's father written inside. The owner asked if they would come and teach him and his friends. When they arrived at the building where they were to teach they found 64 japanese people waiting to be taught. Over a short period of time they were all converted and were baptized because the missionary who had so much trouble with the spanish language was able to teach them in their native tongue.")
we have been having so really good success as well! i can't believe what has happened this week. so first we invited our lady investigator and she said that she would be baptized on the ninth of June so that's awesome and she has a fifteen year old daughter that is coming to live with her for a little bit and she said that she wants her daughter to be there as well when she gets baptized so i think we might have a new investigator here pretty soon. she is doing really well. she has a thing with infant baptisms and thinks that no matter what she is going to have to have the baby that she is prego with baptized immediately. so i think we are going to tell her that we don't believe in that but that we do have something that is comparable to that which is a baby blessing and then we have them baptized at 8 years old. she is super solid. i can't wait till her baptism!
on another note the guy we were supposed to baptise a couple weeks ago in April had a sweet amazing totally awesome story to tell us when we met with him last. so here's the story...
his roommate was just sitting on his computer doing some homework and waiting for his brother to arrive from Mississippi to watch his graduation and all of a sudden he heard someone say something to him that said "take Ryan to see his parents." and this was an audible voice he said. so right when Ryan got home he told him about what had just happened and so his roommate (who is the member who introduced us to Ryan who is also the roommate i am talking about) was like. let go right now. and its a good 3 hour drive to where he lives so not that bad but will take the whole day driving to and from there. and Ryan was a little reluctant to go cause he was having a little party with all his friends that he had met here while he had been at college and didn't want to miss that. but finally he decided to go with his roommate up to Minnesota with his roommates brother. so before this all happened Ryan's dad was not at all on board with his getting baptised so Ryan was like why are we doing this. when they got there they immediately when to his parents and started talking to them about this whole situation and then after their talk they said that it was his choice and that they won't interfere with it! AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! that was Ryan's green light to get baptised and so now Ryan has a strong testimony of prayer, priesthood blessings, and the spirit. after he told us that story i promised him again that his family would join this wonderful church and that he would be that driving force that made that happen. how i know that to be true is that he just randomly got paired up with a Mormon. his brother had requested a book of Mormon cause he knew that Ryan was learning with us and his sister who is in high school just happened to check out a book of Mormon from the library there. THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE!!!!!!! i know that what happened was because of the prayers of so many who hoped for Ryan and also for the power of the priesthood on this earth that we have been given permission to use while on this earth to administer to those who are in need of the miraculous power of it.
well that's about it for now. i love and miss you all and can't wait to hear from you again!!! until next time.
love
