i have really loved my personal studies in the morning and am so thankful for them. i am now in 3rd nephi and am loving every second of it. i especially love chapter 14 cause it refers to Matthew 7 these are the verses that i really liked in there.
7 Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.8 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son ask bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
these are the verses that Joseph Smith says in the movie "The Restoration" that we are able to show people that is just twenty minutes but these short but powerful verses are so amazing and i just love them. so clear to what we need to do, and what the Lord is willing to give us in return.
i was praying i think it was today or yesterday and i thought about how specific i am in my prayers or if they are just the generic kind of prayers that we always say. so often i find myself saying a prayer that is specific but my tone of voice in my head and my thoughts are not in the respectful kind of tone that it should be when talking to my Heavenly Father. i think we can look at the way we pray and think about the reverence we have praying. afterwards look at the prayer and ask ourselves...did i really mean what i just said? or...would Heavenly Father approve of that prayer. just some food for thought. i liked it. :)
anyway sorry for not getting back to you sooner than today. we had a really busy day yesterday and Monday was memorial day. so we ended up emailing on Wednesday. :) funny. but our lives here in ames are getting better. the work is going really well and i think we are getting the members involved so much. (mainly cause we need rides to appointments but the more opportunities we have to help the work progress the better!) we are seeing people pop out of the wood work. we have a Chinese family who have so member friends that live in the salt lake area and they took their friends who live here who weren't members to temple square and got to see the place and now they want to be taught!! so many easy things can excited people and so it makes me think, how easy will it be to just ask someone if they are interested in learning more! so easy!
